Phil & Lynn
These are the faces you'll likely see on our visit!
Phil & Lynn had the idea for Gimme that Sugar in 2020. Lynn left teaching in 2019 and she now works full time for the business. Phil continues to teach and he puts every effort into building Gimme that Sugar in his off time.
The idea for Gimme that sugar came from a conversation Phil and Lynn had about not being able to find cotton candy on a stick. It's a concept seen at the fair *sometimes* and in the movies; it is just rare to be able to enjoy fresh cotton candy on a cone. So, they thought it would be fun to bring an old-fashioned treat back to life! And the reception has been incredible!
Phil & Lynn were both born and raised in southern West Virginia, but they have lived in Georgia since 2005. Together, they have two sons, Liam (a sophomore in high school) and Maddox (a 2nd grader) who you might sometimes see on the truck, too.
Candy Truck
Lynn perused classifieds and FB Marketplace for old trucks and buses. She came across the perfect truck and found out that it was in perfect condition for what was needed to get Gimme that Sugar started. Phil signed the papers and he drove her home. She needed some repairs and some minor maintenance, but she was in great condition. Once the truck was wrapped, it became known as Candy Truck, or sometimes Candy Girl.
The truck was about to go to an auction when she was found. After Hurricane Katrina, the Red Cross purchased these trucks to deploy when other disasters would hit. The trucks were used after several hurricanes and were mostly used to hand out foods and care products for natural disaster victims.
